Jon Fitch

President of Fitch Smash LLC

Jon Fitch is a legend among legends in the UFC and MMA world. He’s tied all-time great records, dominated the welterweight division, and held winning titles for 18 years. Jon began wrestling as a kid and his passion for fighting led him to wrestle as team captain at Division I NCAA Purdue University. After college his professional fighting career rose to dominance from 2002 to 2020 in the UFC and Bellator. Jon retired in 2020 and is dedicated writer, podcaster, and personal coach. Jon teaches self defense in his own unique style called Fitch SMASH which combines skills from Jujitsu and MMA. His podcast Jon Fitch Knows Nothing focuses on issues facing men today, and his book titled Failing Upward – Death by Ego focuses on wrestling. Matt Morea

President and COO of Velvet

A longtime cannabis enthusiast, Matt Morea envisioned opening a retail dispensary several years ago when the idea of legal, recreational cannabis started to look like a reality. Before opening Velvet, Morea was the Vice President of Sales for CannaCraft, a Sonoma County based producer and distributor of cannabis products. Under his leadership, CannaCraft’s three core brands, Absolute Extracts, Care By Design and Satori were all positioned in the Top 3 brands in their category and the company continued to develop into one of the most prominent cannabis companies in the country. In 2020, Morea and close friend and co-founder Farid Harrison set their sights on opening Velvet – the first retail cannabis space in Central Contra Costa County.

Will Holland

Owner of Holland Pharms

Will was born and raised in Palm Springs and comes from a big family and has his own family of 4 kids. His journey with cannabis first started when his mom got breast cancer in 1993. The chemo was intense and he was trying to find a way to ease her pain. Will studied herbs and cannabis to heal. He didn’t smoke in high school and didn’t start until 2nd year of college. His great aunt also had cancer and used cannabis to help with the symptom and pain. He began to envision cannabis as a business. He heard about social equity and spoke to the major of Palm Springs.

Ryan Douglas

Author of Seed to Success

As former Master Grower of Tweed Inc., Canada’s largest licensed producer of legal cannabis, flagship subsidiary of Canopy Growth Corporation, Douglas was one of their first employees. He directed cultivation, designed the production facility, selected genetics, and hired and trained staff to produce 70,000 plants and process 6 tons of dry cannabis annually. Douglas has since helped to launch cannabis cultivation sites in three countries in two different languages. 
“Most cultivation problems are caused by decisions made well before any seeds are planted. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be this way.” Says Douglas, and he aims to de-mystify the process of establishing a productive, profitable, and rewarding cultivation operation by combining industry insight with common business sense.  

Wayne Justmann

The Godfather of Weed

Wayne is a legendary gay-rights and medical marijuana activist, who is often referred to as the Godfather of Weed. His early efforts to provide medical marijuana to HIV and AIDS patients helped pave the way for the adult-use privileges we have today. In the early 1990s, Wayne frequently visited America’s first public dispensary, The San Francisco Cannabis Buyers Club, where he met Dennis Peron, and who would become a lifelong friend and fellow activist. They believed in a mission of helping others ease the pain of HIV and AIDS and saw the power of marijuana to do just that. Together, Wayne and Dennis were a formidable force for change, and led the movement which culminated in the landmark legislation of Prop 215 to legalize cannabis in California. Today, Wayne continues to be involved with cannabis and is a advisor and consultant to dispensaries.

Donnell Alexander

Writer and Producer of WeedWeek

Donnell grew up in Sandusky Ohio and moved to Sacramento California when he was 18. He always had a gift for writing and story-telling and used those skills to build a career in journalism. In his early years he covered local sports teams and then went on to write for all the major weekly publications from Chico to Orange County on topics important to California. After a stint at ESPN The Magazine he wrote a memoir called Ghetto Celebrity and contributed to TIME, KCRW & the Economic Hardship Reporting Project. He worked in Oregon on the Oregon Conversation Project, and went on to become co-host and eventually produce the WeedWeek podcast. Donnell presently writes the WeedWeek California newsletter.

Emily Earlenbaugh, PhD is a writer and educator focused on bringing scientifically backed cannabis education to the public. Emily regularly writes about cannabis science and culture for publications like Leafly, Cannabis Now Magazine, and SF Chronicle’s GreenState. In her spare time, she teaches mindfulness-based skills for working with emotions and educates cannabis users on the intricacies of cannabis’ many variables. Emily has a doctorate in the Philosophy of Science from UC Davis. Emily is also Co-Founder and Director of Education for Mindful Cannabis Consulting, where she teaches cannabis users how to find the options that work best for them – incorporating both scientific and mindfulness tools into her work.

Wayne is a legendary gay-rights and medical marijuana activist, who is often referred to as the Godfather of Weed. His early efforts to provide medical marijuana to HIV and AIDS patients helped pave the way for the adult-use privileges we have today. In the early 1990s, Wayne frequently visited America’s first public dispensary, The San Francisco Cannabis Buyers Club, where he met Dennis Peron, and who would become a lifelong friend and fellow activist. Together, Wayne and Dennis were a formidable force for change, and led the movement which culminated in the landmark legislation of Prop 215 to legalize cannabis in California.
